Design and implementation of a strategy for the development of Nigeria’s gemstone and jewellery industry
The growth of the Nigerian jewelry industry hinged on the establishment of a robust institution and the development of a skilled workforce adept in all facets of jewelry making. Once achieved, the local industry was positioned to satisfy the substantial domestic demand for high-quality jewelry products. This development led to increased import substitution, job creation, and a rise in the export value of Nigeria's gemstones and jewelry.
The project, a component of the World Bank-funded MinDiver support program, made significant contributions to the sector's growth. It accomplished this by designing and implementing a comprehensive development strategy for Nigeria’s gemstone and jewelry industry. Additionally, the project facilitated the establishment of a training workshop and provided vocational training for master jewelry makers, further enhancing the industry's capabilities.
