MEET THE TEAM

Based on the particular requirements of each project we assemble a team of specialists from our vast network of experts and partners from all over the world. Currently more than 50 professionals work with us on a permanent or intermittent basis as advisors, analysts, auditors or trainers. The project teams are supported and often led by our multi-disciplinary in-house staff, who are responsible for the coordination of the assignments and serve as direct contact persons for our clients.

Thomas Hentschel

Thomas Hentschel has been working with Projekt-Consult since 1988 and is a Managing Director since 2014. He is also the Global Program Manager of the Swiss Better Gold Initiative (BGI) with basis in Colombia. Thomas is an ASM expert with more than 35 years of experience managing complex international projects in mining, trade and responsible sourcing in more than 30 countries. He is regarded as an internationally recognized expert for mercury reduction in the ASM gold sector and as a pioneer for successful industry-initiatives along mineral supply chains.

Moritz Lörcher

Moritz Lörcher is a Managing Director of Projekt-Consult GmbH. Upon graduating with a double degree in international economics, he embarked on a career in development cooperation with a focus on resource policy. Over the last ten years Moritz has participated as expert and manager in a wide range of projects, studies and evaluations in Europe, Latin America, Asia and Africa.

Johanna Carstens

Johanna Carstens is a consultant for ASM and mineral supply chains. She is an experienced advisor and trainer in international development and has worked with the company since 2009. Her educational background is in environment, development studies and economics with a focus on social, economic, environmental and governance aspects of responsible mining. Johanna is fluent in German, English, French and has working knowledge of Swahili.

Christopher Demel

Christopher Demel is a consultant for mining and mineral resources as well as the company’s security backstopper for all projects and studies abroad. He graduated in mineralogy with a focus on economic geology and geochemical-mineralogical analytics. Christopher has been involved in projects on artisanal and small-scale mining and processing, GIS / geo-data management, and mineral governance. Over the last ten years, he has worked both for private companies and in technical assistance projects in Australia, Africa and Asia.

Dr. Aissa Rechlin

Aissa Rechlin is a senior consultant for mining and mineral resources at Projekt-Consult. She is an experienced team leader and manager of projects with a focus on international cooperation and sustainable mineral policies. Aissa holds a PhD degree in Geosciences from the Freie Universität Berlin and a Diploma in Geology from the Universität Hamburg. Before joining the team, she worked at the Research Centre for Geosciences GFZ and in the field of technology transfer and innovation management linking industry with academia mainly in the sector of applied geosciences.

Dr. Michael Priester

Michael Priester is a mining engineer by profession who has worked with miners and mining communities in over 40 countries worldwide. For more than 20 years he was a director of the company’s mining department and currently hold the position as senior advisor. Coming from a more technical background Michael covers the whole width of small-scale mining related topics, from child labour to policy development, from environmental management to training and from the mine to the market. He has also been involved in several research-led advisory project on mineral policies and has published numerous articles and books.

Dr. Diderot Nquepjouo

Diderot Nguepjouo is a senior environmental expert at Projekt-Consult. He has over 15 years of experience in academics and extractive industries, particularly in Africa and Germany. Diderot has been involved in projects dealing with environmental follow up and management, participatory mapping, remote sensing, land use and land cover change, artisanal and small-scale mining, community empowerment and capacity building. He holds a PhD in geosciences from the Goethe University Frankfurt., Germany. He speaks English, German, French and other African languagess.

Isabel Urrutia

Isabel Urrutia is a consultant for mineral supply chains at Projekt-Consult. In her home country Peru, she worked with civil society and the public sector to advance conflict prevention and human rights in the extractive industries. She has extensive field experience in engaging multiple stakeholders to address the sustainability challenges of mining. Isabel holds a Master’s in Public Policy from the National University of Singapore and a M.A. in Interdisciplinary Latin American Studies from the Freie Universität Berlin. She is native in German and Spanish, is fluent in English and has working knowledge of French and Portuguese.

Dr. Heike Schulze

Heike Schulze has the position as senior manager for responsible sourcing with a focus on private clients. For more than 20 years she has worked as a manager in the automotive industry, as a consultant for responsible sourcing as well as a professor for supply chain & operations management. Her PhD from London South Bank University was granted for the work on sustainability competences for purchasing professionals.

Fabian Rodrigues de Matos

Fabian Rodrigues is the administrative coordinator at Projekt-Consult. He supports the in-house team by ensuring that all projects comply with the company’s quality management system certified according to ISO 9001. Before joining Projekt-Consult he has worked as freelance interpreter and translator. Fabian holds an M.A. in Romanian Linguistics from the University of Hamburg. He is native in German and Portuguese, and has working knowledge of English, Spanish, Italian and French.

Jennifer Rangel

Jennifer Rangel is a trainee at Projekt Consult. Jennifer has a B.A. in Geography and Human Environmental Studies, with a minor in Anthropology from San Francisco State University, and currently pursues a MSc. Physical Geography, Environmental History. She is particularly interested in data analysis and human environmental relationships. Jennifer is native in English and Spanish.
