First projects in promotion of small and medium-scale industries and crafts, rural development, development and transfer of appropriate technologies, ecological research and environmental techniques, and training and qualification.
First projects in the mining and renewable energy sectors, which became Projekt-Consult’s core business areas.
1988-1992: Technical backstopping of the project „Promotion of Village Food-Processing Technologies and the Crafts Sector by means of Small-Scale Hydropower Plants", global (GTZ/GATE)
1989-1993: Tools for Mining (GTZ/GATE) – resulted in milestone publications “Small-Scale Gold Mining - Processing Techniques in Developing Countries ” and “Tools for Mining – Techniques and Processes for Small-Scale Mining ”
Since mid 1990s: Participation in international and national dialogues on ASM, environmental risks and responsible mining (CASM, IGF, Hg network, GECO, UFOPLAN).
1993-1997: Improvement of the rural electricity supply in the Solomon Islands (GTZ); project included advisory services to the Solomon Island Government and Electricity Authority as well as design, acquisition of equipment, tendering and supervision of construction, and starting up of a hydro-power plant in Buala
1994-2006: MEDMIN Bolivia (SDC) – integrated environmental management in small-scale mining – incl. feasibility study for tailings facility for more than 50 concentration plants in Potosi, which has consequently been built.
Multi-year EC Sysmin-funded ASM support projects in Africa and Asia.
Participation in first Fair Trade Gold certification.
Publication of “Artisanal and Small-Scale Mining – Challenges and Opportunities ” (within the MMSD project).
2011-2012: Participation in the drafting of the gold supplement of the OECD Minerals Due Diligence Guidance.
Since 2013: policy advice and research projects for German government and European Union (ÖkoRess, STRADE).
Since 2013: Better Gold Initiative (BGI) for ASM (SECO) - Public-Private partnership for setting-up integrated supply chains.
From now on, Projekt-Consult focused exclusively on mining and mineral resources.
As part of the acquisition process, the Renewable Energy portfolio was transferred to GFA.
