Development of governance instruments to promote an environmentally sound exploitation of raw materials (InGoRo)

With the InGoRo project, the German Ministry of Environment investigated and developed appropriate governance tools that can be used to promote, establish and enforce global standards for environmentally sound mining.

Together with two other think tanks, Projekt-Consult took an inventory of the existing international legal norms with regard to the environmental degradation of imported raw materials, supplemented by non-legal and certain non-state instruments and processes.

On this basis, the researchers developed concrete options and recommendations for German policy makers.
