Sustainable Development of Mining in Rwanda
The “Sustainable Development of Mining in Rwanda (SDMR)” programme contributed to the economically and environmentally sustainable growth of Rwanda’s mining sector. As technical partner in a consortium led by CARDNO, Projekt-Consult supported the Rwandan Mining, Petroleum, and Gas Board (RMB) in managing its existing geological data and in optimizing the current mining license / cadastre management system. Additionally, Projekt-Consult's experts were involved in the setup of “Mining Services Aggregation Centres (MSAC)”, which aimed to provide centralised technical and business-administrative services as well as hands-on training for ASM companies and cooperatives in two selected mining districts. This MSAC intervention addressed various key thematic aspects of ASM such as: optimisation of mining and mineral processing efficiency, geology and resource definition, occupational health and safety, environmental and mine management, and access to finance.
