Development of a strategic action plan for the European Partnership for Responsible Minerals (EPRM)
The European Partnership for Responsible Minerals (EPRM) was founded in 2016 as an accompanying measure to the EU Responsible Minerals Regulation (EURMR), with the aim to foster the development of responsible supply chains for 3TGS minerals. EPRM has three main pillars of engagement. First, the support for mine sites (responsible production), second the support for companies involved in the upstream 3TG supply chain (responsible sourcing), and third the linkage of production and sourcing actors in order to support the creation of responsible 3TG supply chain relationships. Based on these ambitions, EPRM activities focus on funding for projects on the ground, support for companies, especially small and medium enterprises (SME) to comply with the EURMR, and the development of partnerships and relations with stakeholders and other initiatives in the 3TG sector.
The year 2021 marks the five-year anniversary of the Partnership as well as the entry into force of the EURMR. This has led EPRM to take stock of its achievements, performance, and experiences over the past 5 years and reflect on its future development. As initiative-taker for the EPRM, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands has contracted Projekt-Consult to develop a 3-5 year strategic action plan that sets out a short and long-term pathway towards maximizing the results of EPRM activities and its value proposition for current and potential members.
The initial development of the strategic action plan will be based on a comprehensive context analysis, including a trend analysis and an assessment of the status quo. In this way, the plan will consolidate existing knowledge on the current status of EPRM’s work vis-á-vis its strategic goals and provide EPRM with a strategic direction towards an updated long-term vision in order to respond to new developments affecting the minerals sector.
