Assessment of strategic and regulatory elements of the current ASM management practice

Projekt-Consult is supporting the Togolese Ministry of Mines and Energy in developing a sustainable and effective strategy for the management of its artisanal and small-scale mining sector. The main elements of the ASM strategy are:

• development of an improved legal and regulatory framework,
• institutional strengthening and setup of a data management system, and
• training of mine managers and artisanal gold miners on new legal and regulatory aspects and their impact on current mining practices.

In a subsequent phase, Projekt-Consult will support the implementation of the strategy and all related activities over a one-year period.
